Yoga for Men with Christian
Welcome to Yoga for Men!
This is a weekly 75-minutes Vinyasa Yoga class for men of all ages. We will practice a dynamic style of yoga, including postures (asanas), breathwork (pranayama) and meditation.
Why yoga for men?
Let’s face it: Coming into a regular yoga studio as a man usually means that you are a minority. For various reasons, yoga has been looked upon by many as a women’s “thing”.
Sure enough, the first thing many men notice on entering a yoga studio is that they’re in foreign territory. Pensive women readying for class sets as strong a tone as a locker room of guys snapping towels.
The instructor can be equally alien. A female teacher might seem like just another pretty face in the intimidating crowd.
The result can be a somewhat lonely experience. Which is a shame because the feeling of liberation and embodiment coming from yoga can be a very communal and socializing experience. It is striking how people connect much more with each other after the yoga class, than before it.
So, this is an opportunity to enjoy all the physical and mental benefits of yoga in a group of like-minded men, to share our male energy and also to allow vulnerability in a safe space.
What is vinyasa yoga?
Vinyasa yoga is a type of yoga that links movement and breath to attain balance in the mind and body. Meaning in Sanskrit “to place in a special way,” vinyasa aligns a deliberate sequence of poses with the breath to achieve a continuous flow.
Through the use of ever-changing sequences of asanas, we will prepare you for more advanced postures like arm balances, hip openers and back bends.
The classes are for students of all levels and ages. A basic level of fitness is recommended – we are going to sweat!
